Preparing to Move

June 3, 2010

The view from our street!

We have set a date for our departure to the south next Friday, June 11th.  The past week has been spent preparing for the move, acquiring essentials that will be difficult–if not impossible–to find down south, away from this civilization.

We have also been getting prepared to be almost completely without an internet connection.  With Levi and Jessie away, we have not been able to connect to the internet from home, hence the lack of blog posts.

In addition to gathering food items we will be bringing along, we have received some wonderful care packages by way of family (The Lensssens), friends (The Lesters), and acquaintances that have made trips to Ethiopia to meet the newest additions to their families.  Thank you to our families (Grammy, Nana and Papa, Darcie and Rand, Auntie Kathryn and family, Auntie RosaLee) for sending us all the goodies—we love them!

Micah has been shopping for a water pump to take out to Duss, for getting water from the Omo River ten meters below up to the church building which needs stucco.  God is doing amazing things in the Kara tribe and we are privileged to be able to witness His work.

Micah has also been continuing to shop for the equipment that will eventually be used to build the buildings and homes in the children’s village in the south.  (I just prefer “children’s village” to the term, “orphanage.”)

Today Sarah and I made over a gallon of granola to take with us as we will be without an oven after we move.  It was delicious so of course we had to sample some with yogurt, which we will certainly miss.

Please pray for our journey and our work when we get there.  Thank you so much for all your prayers thus far.  I am happy to report that everyone is currently healthy.  I think we are all ready for this next chapter.

    Emily!! We miss you!!!
I’m so happy to hear that you are getting geared up for the next chapter. I love, love, love that you guys are experiencing a different culture and way of life. Your kids are getting a perspective of the world that few get in a lifetime. And it’s so cool that through it all your main goal and desire is to help others. Loving you Baginskis and that cute, adorable Sarah!

So good hear from you! May the Lord go before you- He will part the sea. We trust you into His hands which doesn’t make it any easier for my aching heart. But we are happy you are going to Jinka. I know it will be harder with out some of the things you had in Addis but I’m sure the surroundings will be much nicer. All our love to you and the kids and dear Sarah. We will continue to pray for the tribe elders that the Lord would do a miracle in their hearts. He is the LIGHT of the World

Hope your trip south is a safe one and our thoughts and prayers are with you every day.
We’ll miss the blogs you send, but your Mom assures us she will keep us posted of your activities. Your Dad and helpers are busy getting ready to paint their house on Monday, that is if it doesn’t rain. Again, bless you all for what you are doing.

    Hey guys,

Good luck on your journey. Glad to hear all of the kids are in good shape.
Thank you for all of the wonderful pictures.

We drove by your house today on 41st Street – it looks good – but it’s a bit sad because we
    know you’re not there.

Sending you many good thoughts and prayers for the next leg of your adventure.
Be safe in your travels. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
